C-SLAB

During the opening weekend of our summer program, we are launching C-SLAB, a new art project that explores the boundary between bouldering and art in public space.

C-SLAB is an initiative by artist and KLUMKLIB founder Lars Marcoen, who, together with other climbers, wants to search for the hidden lines of the longest artificial bouldering wall in the Benelux on Saturday, June 21 — you can join in the search, open routes, name them, and rate them. Your route(s) and those of others will be compiled into a unique topography.

DURING THE FIRST EVENT

  • We will map the wall analogously, zone by zone
  • You will chart your own routes and try out new lines
  • You’ll enjoy a solid climbing session on (literally) a piece of heritage

Afterwards, Lars, together with photographer Saverio Sammartino, will work on a publication about the project: featuring images, stories from the Genk community, reflections from experienced climbers, and the creation of the topo itself. We look forward to showing you the result at the next C-SLAB event: Saturday, September 20 - mark it in your calendar!

NOTE: THE WALL MAY ONLY BE CLIMBED DURING THE C-SLAB EVENTS
