A retrospective look at the history of kites takes us back to ancient China, where the first signs of kite flying find their roots. One of the most stunning creations of this time is the dragon-crawler kite, a masterpiece of kite art consisting of interconnected disc kites that take the form of a dragon. This kite allowed ancient cultures to fill the sky with meter-long mythical creatures.

In my design, I draw on this ancient tradition as a foundation, elevating it to new heights of imagination. The discs of my kite not only represent the planets of our solar system, but are also surrounded by a kaleidoscope of satellites orbiting them. These celestial bodies form a line, known as the planetary conjunction, or even more aptly, the planetary parade. As this kite glides through the sky, it creates a cosmic dance of celestial bodies, a symphony of movement and mystery that invites the viewer to dream of distant worlds.

The choice of bamboo and paper as materials for my kite reflects the traditional craft techniques of ancient China.
